World AIDS DAY

MY Health, MY Right

 

Port of Spain: The Office of the Prime Minister in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and various NGOs hosted a day of activities in commemoration of World AIDS Day 2017 under the theme ‘My Health, My Right’. The day’s activities were open to the public and included a Health Fair, free HIV Testing and the formation of a symbolic Red Human Ribbon at the International Waterfront Centre followed by a march to the Brian Lara Promenade where a formal ceremony was held.

 

The formal proceedings featured addresses by the Chair of the National AIDS Co-ordinating Committee – Ms. Heather Rodney, the Honourable Ayanna Webster-Roy - Minister of State in the Office of the Prime Minister and the Honourable Terrance Deyalsingh - Minister of Health.

 

Throughout 2017 the National AIDS Co-ordinating Committee (NACC) has successfully conducted numerous workshops, seminars and studies to sensitize, train and empower members of the public as well as persons working within the field of HIV. It has been instrumental in the development and implementation of HIV-related policies that would ensure the acknowledgment of and respect for the rights of persons living with or affected by HIV.

 

The Office of the Prime Minister will like to thank the Ministry of Health; North West Regional Health Authority; National AIDS Co-ordinating Committee/Secretariat;  Division of Health, Wellness and Family Development, Tobago House of Assembly; Family Planning Association of Trinidad and Tobago; Ministry of the Attorney General and Legal Affairs; Ministry of National Security; Ministry of Community Development, Culture and the Arts; Ministry of Labour and Small Enterprise Development; Ministry of Social Development and Family Services; Cyril Ross Nursery; ComTalk International; Port-of-Spain City Corporation; Unlock Media TT; Sugah Booth TT and all other stakeholders who were vital in making today’s activities a success.
